Sooo... I had my kitchen class like usual every week. But what made this week so special that i decided to talk about it? Well to start with, our starter was risotto and main course is duo of duck. Sigh i lost my mood to talk. But anyway, yeah... So for the risotto i decided to make pumpkin risotto~~~ No not the one where it is literally orange in colour and looks like baby food. Yuck noo... I cubed the pumpkins and throw it in. For duck i made confit of duck leg and pan sear the duck breast.
Yeahhh........ risotto was a disaster. There was only ONE (1) small pumpkin for the whole class and in the end i only got like 3 regular dice size. Imagine that. Then my risotto was overcooked. I know that it had to be al dente but i had no idea al dente for risotto was THAT hard. II IS suppose to feel like it's not cooked (literally). Plus the stock was damn salty and thus my risotto was ultra salty, even tho i did not season it.
Lastly, i add 2 spoonful of parmesan cheese. I guess that was my fault, in the end it got cold and become stone hard! HAHAHA~ oopsies...
But on the bright side, my main course saved the day. For the side dishes i made roasted cherry tomatoes, spinach in cream sauce, blanched asparagus and sauteed tournee potatoes. Oh my god don't even make me start on the potatoes. In the beginning of the class. I had NO potatoes. Literally! In the end i got 3 mini sized potato which fyi was about to go bad. Yeah...not pretty.
So anyway, that day miracle happened. I was the very first person to serve my dish. Usually i'd be like the centre or one of the few last. So yeah it was kinda awkward but happy. When i served my plate, chef was like "WOAHH... if you do this for your finals... you surely pass. Guaranteed!!!" Like obviously i was damn happy la~ Hahaha... He said i had a lot of improvements from my previous class. And hopefully i would eventually improve from time to time! =]
